Hair Removal Treatment Options

Hair Removal Treatment Options

Hair on your scalp is great. It's the stuff that sprouts up on your body that you want to remove.

Body hair might not be such an issue if there were a one size fits all way to get rid of unwanted growth for every part of the body. After all, growth appears on many parts of the human body. On women, that's often the upper lip, legs, arm pits and groin area, though the latter area is often a matter of preference whether or not you want it removed.

And men? Well, some guys are hairy creatures and will sprout unwanted growth on pretty much every inch of their body. Most often, this includes the chest, back, neck, arms, legs, feet, and posterior. And the obvious areas like the arm pits and genital region.

The hair removal treatment option you choose will depend on the location of the unwanted growth for reasons we'll review in this article. We should note, however, there may be a way to prevent body hair before it sprouts up, and on any part of your body and regardless of density. We'll review that as well.

Shaving

The obvious way to get rid of body hair is simply to shave it off. This is the easiest method, it's convenient and it's relatively painless. Men can shave their face and any part of their body. Women, too can shave, though they most often do this to remove hair on their legs and genital region.

You can shave with a standard razor and shaving cream or with an electric razor. The second option might be even easier, though the results won't be as good. You should never shave on broken or irritated skin.

The downside of shaving? Results are very short-term. Many guys see stubble within just a few hours, otherwise known as the five o' clock shadow.

Depilatory Creams

A step up from shaving are depilatory creams. These are chemicals that dissolve the proteins in body hair, which causes unwanted growth to fall off. Like shaving, this is a convenient method to get rid of body hair – just apply after a bath or shower, wait, and rub it off with a damp cloth.

Depilatory creams produce results just slightly longer than shaving, at roughly two to three days. You can use them on your arms and legs. Some women use them along the bikini line, but depilatory creams can trigger inflammation and skin sensitivities in this delicate region.

Depilatory creams are less effective on larger areas, like the back (kinda hard to apply these by yourself on the back!). You should never use a depilatory cream on your eyebrows, as the chemicals within can drip into your eyes and cause serious damage.

Waxing

Longer-lasting results and decidedly painful, many a Hollywood movie has featured a scene in which a hairy man has various parts of his hirsuteness torn away amidst screams of pain and laughter from his friends.

This option is an epilation-based hair removal method, in which hair is plucked out at the root. You can do this at home or in a salon. A home kit allows you to remove body hair on the eyebrows, arms and arm pits, neck and legs. If it's done in a salon you can pretty much get rid of growth on any part of your body, though this can easily set you back $50. Results last about a month.

Waxing has drawbacks. Aside from the pain (ouch!), home kits can be messy and inconvenient, and infections aren't uncommon when performed in a salon, some of which won't do a full-body wax.

Hair Growth Inhibitors

Another, and perhaps more effective way to get rid of body hair is to prevent it before it develops. In this light, a natural hair growth inhibitor, like Stop Grow, is most often a more convenient, effective and longer-lasting solution.

A natural hair growth inhibitor selectively targets cellular activity within the hair follicle during the anagen, or 'growth' phase, and reduces both length of body hair and overall density. Growth becomes sparse and less noticeable, until on many clients, shaving and related hair removal methods are no longer required while using the product.

A promising development in body hair removal, natural hair growth inhibitors use plant-derived active ingredients, including Telocapil and Decelerine, that can be used on any part of the body. And the results are eye-catching – in one study, Decelerine reduced the need for women to shave their legs by up to 82%. And Telocapil is clinically proven to reduce body hair by up to 69%.

Clients looking for an effective way to get rid of body hair should look for a natural hair inhibitor with a combination of Telocapil, Decelerine and Pilisoft LS7590. If the product comes with a money-back guarantee longer than two months, you should buy the product.

Admittedly this limits your choices substantially, but Stop Grow by Skinception is formulated with all three of these active ingredients. The product is guaranteed for an impressive 90 days and if consumer reviews are any indication, Stop Grow might be the best way to get rid of body hair and feel good about your newly claimed body.

Illuminatural 6i Skin Brightener Review

Illuminatural 6i Skin Brightener Review

Skin products do very well at the cash register. Let's face it, skin is sexy. And one of the top sellers in this lucrative industry are skin brightening products, which, as you'd expect, brighten the skin.

The problem with most skin brightening products is that they're laden with dangerous chemicals and toxic agents, including steroids, hyrdoquinone and especially mercury. Enter the natural skin brightener, a skin lightening product formulated with botanicals and natural exfoliants.

Illuminatural 6i by the Skinception line of skin care products is one of the few skin brighteners available today with no toxic ingredients or dangerous chemicals in its formula. Customer reviews thus far, as with most products by Skinception, have been positive.

What Illuminatural 6i Does

A skin lightener is designed to lighten the skin, for a more even complexion and with reduced visibility of skin blemishes. With that in consideration, Illuminatural 6i is designed to reduce the appearance of:

  • moles
  • age spots
  • freckles
  • birth marks
  • sun damage
  • acne scars
  • melasma
  • To achieve this, a skin lightener must inhibit the tyrosinase enzyme that stimulates the melanocyte skin cells that produce melanin – the dark pigment. Excessive melanin is responsible for skin blotchiness, uneven skin tone and dark spots. Excess melanin can also be called hyperpigmentation.

In addition, a skin lightener needs to exfoliate the dark pigmented cells to encourage newer, bright skin cells to reach the outermost layer of skin, the epidermis.

Illuminatural 6i is designed to perform both of these functions – inhibit the enzyme responsible for hyperpigmentation and exfoliate the skin in a safe yet effective manner. Thus far, consumer reviews indicate it's a less painful and more convenient way to exfoliate the skin than by using a chemical peel.

    The Formula

Illuminatural 6i is a natural skin lightener. As such, it consists primarily of gentle skin lighteners, plant-derived active ingredients and natural exfoliants. Of the more notable ingredients in its formula, you'll find:

Niacinamide – A form of vitamin B3, niacinamide is involved in over 200 enzymatic reactions and can significantly reduce hyperpigmentation, often in less than a month.

Alpha-Arbutin – Derived from berries and fruits, alpha-arbutin is proven to reduce melanin by up to 70% and is a safer, more natural alternative to common skin bleachers. In a chinese study, researchers found that women who used alpha-arbutin experienced 60% more skin lightening effects than achieved with hydroquinone.

Beta Glucan – Considered a natural alternative to Botox, beta glucan helps natural turn over of dead skin cells and promotes health of macrophages, which are the cells that destroy dead or mutated skin cells.

    Customer Feedback

Thus far, reviews and customer feedback of Illuminatural 6i have been very positive. Consumers have embraced the product as a safer alternative to skin brighteners with hydroquinone and particularly mercury, which is linked to neurological, psychological and kidney problems.

Adding to that last point, it's not uncommon for consumers to apply a skin lightening product to the entire body, for months and even years, in an effort to lighten the complexion and reduce visibility of skin blemishes, including blotchiness, sun damage, acne scars and age spots.

Engaging in this practice with a conventional skin lightener with mercury – and estimates suggest that one in four skin lightening products sold in the Unites States is formulated with this toxic agent – elevates risk of mercury poisoning, which, in pregnant women, can be passed along to their unborn child.

With Illuminatural, customer surveys indicate that many consumers continue to bleach most of their skin, yet appreciate that, being without mercury, hydroquinone, steroids or harmful chemicals, appears to be much safer than with common skin brighteners.

    Should You Buy Illuminatural 6i?

If you have skin blemishes, dark spots, uneven complexion and you'd like to do something about it, you might consider Illuminatural 6i as a safe and natural alternative to most skin lightening products on the market today.

You might also take comfort in knowing that it's offered by Skinception, a well-known brand of popular skin care products that blend natural ingredients with patented peptides and that keep paraben content to a minimum.

Reviews will be ongoing with Illuminatural 6i, of course, and it remains to be seen whether consumers will flock to Illuminatural or continue with common, if not riskier skin lightening products.

But it is encouraging to know that there is now a natural skin lightening product on the market, that delivers what it claims, with a notable reduction in skin blemishes and brighter, more even complexion, and that reviews so far are very positive about Illuminatural 6i.

The Power of Sleep in the Healing Process

Why do we need sleep?

Sleep is extremely important for many facets of our functioning. Recent research has revealed what many of us have always known: sleep facilitates the learning process, lessens anxiety, and reduces the risk of depression.

Sleep is even more important during the healing process. Physical healing is maximized during sleep, so adequate sleep promotes optimal healing. Research has shown that sleep interruption, especially working the graveyard shift, can increase the risk of developing cancer by up to 60 percent.

Melatonin and sleep

There are many ways to help create healthy, restful sleep, and almost all of them are very simple to do! One of the easiest ways to promote optimal sleeping is to turn off all bright lights about an hour before bedtime. There is evidence that light in the bedroom during sleep decreases melatonin production, an important hormone that supports optimal immune function.

Melatonin is a natural hormone produced at night by our pineal gland, a gland at the base of our brain. If we work night shifts (or if we go to bed late or sleep in a room that is not dark), our body’s melatonin production is reduced. This can negatively affect our immune system function.

In order to optimize melatonin production, Inspire Health advises that we turn off all the bright lights in the house by 9 pm (use dim lights if necessary) and to be in bed by 10 pm. From an integrative medicine perspective, an hour of sleep before midnight is worth two hours of sleep after midnight, because it’s thought that sleep before midnight optimizes melatonin production.

Extra tips to help set you up for sleeping success

Exercise regularly (early in the day is best).

Skip the daytime nap.

Avoid caffeine.

Go to bed by 10 pm.

Avoid watching TV right before bed.

Read something calm or peaceful to help you relax.

Wear socks to bed if your feet get cold.

Avoid drinking any fluids within 2 hours of going to bed.

Avoid large meals within 3 hours of bedtime

Sleep in complete darkness or as close to it as possible.
